In recognition of her outstanding contribution to journalism, renowned Gambian female investigate journalist, Khadija Jawo, has on Saturday received a Media Personality of the Year award.
The award event was organized by the She Awards Gambia, a young women-led initiative committed to championing Gambia’s first and biggest women’s awards event.
Jawo, a champion of interest-journalism, dedicated the award to the people.
“I remain committed to telling stories that matter, stories that inspire impact, promote development, and uplift and protect vulnerable members of our society.
None of this would be possible without the people, because journalism is, at its core, about people, and without them, there is no journalism.”
The award celebrated Dija Jawo’s fearless investigative reporting and compelling human-interest stories that have amplified the voices of marginalized, holding people and institutions to account.
