Russian skydiver and multiple world record holder Sergey Boytcov has set a new world record after successfully jumping from a hot-air balloon at an altitude of 11,551 metres, in a landmark feat carried out in support of the International Festival of Youth 2026.
The record-breaking jump took place on August 15, ahead of Russia’s National Flag Day, as part of the Stratum Jump 11–12 project organised by Russian company Created by the Heavens. The achievement surpassed the previous world record of 10,060 metres, reportedly set by Polish extreme athletes.
Boytcov, a Master of Sport of Russia and CEO of Created by the Heavens, has more than 25 years of experience in skydiving and over 2,000 jumps to his name. He also holds a USPA Category D licence, described as the highest level of international skydiving certification.
The feat was staged in support of the International Festival of Youth 2026, which is scheduled to take place in Ekaterinburg from September 11 to 17 as part of Russia’s Youth and Children national project.
The festival, established by a decree signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 29, 2025, is expected to bring together 10,000 young leaders from 175 countries, alongside 2000 volunteers from across the world.
Held under the motto “Follow Your Dream,” the festival is intended to provide a platform for young people from around the world to exchange ideas, develop international connections and participate in discussions and activities centred on youth development.
