‎GALA’s mouthpiece Omar Saibo Camara has doubled down on his criticisms of the United Democratic Party for its attempt to endorse an alliance with the Jammeh-backed No To Alliance faction.‎‎

The remark on the possible UDP-No To Alliance coalition sparked outrage among activists and other concerned Gambians when the party’s executive member, Dr. Lamin Manneh, recently said there is a possibility for the two rivals to come together for the December 2026 election, a similar move made by the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) in 2021.‎

In his Thursday comment on the ongoing debate about whether the UDP should form a coalition with the APRC-No To Alliance, Camara stated: “The narrative you are trying so hard to propagate is misleading and dangerous to social cohesion. In the same vein, if you are going to base your arguments solely on the idea that politics is about numbers, and you choose to apply that logic without principle, then that logic becomes dangerous to the interests of the masses.”‎

Reacting to critics who say his activism is limited to TV shows appearances, he said, “if you praise me when I protest against the government but then claim my activism is limited to the media when I critique you , that is despicable, and it says more about you than it does about me.”

Camara, a prominent youth anti-corruption activist has on multiple occasions, been arrested for protesting against corruptions, unjust systems and oppressions against opposition political parties and individuals.‎‎
