The Law Enforcement Agency Gambia has announced a major breakthrough in its efforts to fight against illicit drugs.
The authority says it has seized a large quantity of cocaine, cannabis sativa, and skunk, including over forty-nine thousand pills of ecstasy.
The arrests were made between January and February 2026. According to information the authorities shared with the public, more than forty people were arrested, including a 45-year-old Nigerian who was residing at Coastal Road.
”45 years old Chikaodi Stephen Orji a Nigerian residing at Coastal Road was arrested at Kanifing DHL Branch on the 3rd February 2026 at around 15:46 hours GMT onwards with (16) pellets of suspected cocaine concealed in a transparent plastic bag and inside a calabash with necklace,” DLEAG narrated.

49 years old Slauoi Habib Hicham a Morrocan Businessman residing at Brusubi was arrested on the 6th February 2026 at around 23:17 hours with (44,400) pills of ecstasy, (1) block and (3) stones of suspected cannabis resin (hashish) concealed in separate plastic bags and inside a black suitcase.

42 years old Omar Seckan a resident of Bakoteh was arrested on the 29th January 2026 at around 23:00 hours GMT onwards with (2) large bags and (50) small bags of suspected cannabis ruderalis (skunk) concealed in transparent and multi coloured plastic bag and placed in the front passenger seat in a green gold vehicle.
31 years old Alagie Ndoye a resident of Njawara was arrested on the 3rd February 2026 at around 13:48 hours GMT onwards with (1) bundle and some quantities of suspected cannabis sativa and a cash amount of (D90,000) suspect to be proceeds of the illicit drug business.
23 years old Karamo Suwareh and 23 years old Ebrima Ceesay a resident of Gunjur and Pirang were both arrested on the 30th January 2026 at around 17:50 hours GMT onwards with (1) bundle of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in brown Paper and inside a black coloured back park.
