In a significant boost to The Gambia’s presence in the global stage, Deputy Majority Leader of the National Assembly, Hon. Abdoulie Ceesay, has been elected with three other lawmakers from Suriname, Kenya and DR. Congo, as an executive member of Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA), a respected international body that mobilizes lawmakers worldwide to advance democracy, the rule of law, and sustainable development.

The announcement marks a significant milestone for both Ceesay and the Gambia’s representation in global legislative advocacy platforms.
Speaking following his election, Ceesay described the new role as both an honor and a responsibility, emphasizing his long-standing grassroots engagement and international advocacy.
“This new role gives me the opportunity to help shape global frameworks that protect lives, empower communities, and uphold the values we fight for every day.”
PGA is widely recognized for its efforts in promoting human rights, accountability, and international justice through parliamentary diplomacy.
Hon. Abdoulie Ceesay is expected to leverage his experience to bridge local realities with global policymaking as he had already served for two years as an international council member of the network for 2 years.
