A distinguished Gambian international lawyer and politician, Essa Mbye Faal, and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Seedy SK. Njie have been honored with the prestigious African Distinguished Achiever Award by the All Africa Students Union (AASU), an umbrella organization for all African students from the basic level to higher learning institutions.

The award, which recognized Faal and Njie’s outstanding contributions to Africa’s development, was delivered by AASU President and Information Secretary, Osisiogou Osikenyi and Amadou Jobarteh, a lecturer from Gambia College on Thursday.
With over seventy-five member unions across the African continent, AASU represents over 170 million students in Africa and the diaspora, and is currently present in 54 countries, with a focus on promoting Pan Africanism, capacity building, gender advocacy, environment and climate action among others.
